As you will be aware, S4-S6 pupils will sit their formal subject formal assessments in November/ December 2023. We use the information derived in these and other assessments over the academic year to establish current working grades, identify support(s) for the upcoming terms and all information gathered over the year then inform pupil's estimates for future SQA certification.

The upcoming formal assessments will nearly all occur during a pupil's subject double period class time within the assessment time window. This reduces the amount of lost learning time in other subject areas.   Your child's classroom teacher will ensure SQA style exam conditions are met and provide important subject specific information regarding the assessment and answer any questions in the lead up to the Assessment window.

Alternative Assessment Arrangements (AAA)

If your child is identified as requiring additional assessment arrangements the following process is in place:

  • Up until week commencing 23rd October AAA details are being collated and confirmed as part of internal school organisation.
  • After this date and before Friday 17th November your child's AA arrangements will be confirmed to them. As part of this process an email confirmation will also be sent to the parent/carer main contact of the pupil.
  • Once your child has received their AAA information, if you then have any further questions then please contact Suzanne Dyer (Suzanne.dyer@westlothian.org.uk) at this point.
