The upcoming formal Winter assessments will nearly all occur during a pupil's subject double period class time.

For example, if your child studies N5 Chemistry on Monday period 2 and 3, this will be the designated time for the assessment to occur as per the assessment timetable. Your child's teachers will verbally inform them and also set their winter assessment time as an 'assignment' on Teams to ensure your child is clear of when this is taking place.

Please note that English and Maths are taking place in the Assembly hall and may be at a different time to when your child studies that subject. Again, the English and Maths teachers will inform your child of these arrangements and also set their winter assessment time as an 'assignment' on Teams to ensure your child is clear of when this is taking place.

This arrangement reduces the amount of lost learning time in other subject areas.

Your child's classroom teacher will ensure SQA style exam conditions are met and provide important subject specific information regarding the assessment and answer any questions in the lead up to the Assessment window.

Alternative Assessment Arrangements (AAA)

If your child is identified as requiring additional assessment arrangements the following process is in place:

  • Up until week commencing 21st October AAA details are being collated and confirmed as part of internal school organisation.
  • After this date and before Friday 15th November your child's AA arrangements will be confirmed to them. As part of this process an email confirmation will also be sent to the parent/carer main contact of the pupil.
  • Once your child has received their AAA information, if you then have any further questions then please contact Suzanne Dyer (Suzanne.dyer@westlothian.org.uk) at this point.
