College
College can provide you with a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and help you figure out what potential employment route you might like to take, all in a much less formal environment to what you have experienced in school or what might be experienced at University.
Having discussed options with your Head of House, the careers advisor, parents or carers, if you think college might be a good option, making an application is a reasonably easy process.
The nearest locations to Linlithgow Academy are West Lothian College in Livingston, Forth Valley College with campus's in Falkirk, Stirling and Alloa and Scotland's Rural College (Oatridge in Ecclesmachan.) Note that HNC/HND Oatridge applications need to be considered via UCAS. West Lothian College Home | Forth Valley College SRUC Campuses | Oatridge, West Lothian
Applications are made online, and we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible to avoid courses filling up and personal disappointment. West Lothian College August start courses are released around January or February time, Forth Valley normally in December.
You will need to have your own email address, not the school GLOW one, to support your application and for West Lothian a digital image of yourself that you can upload. You will also need a short personal statement to support your application.
Some college courses are classified as Higher Education courses, for example Higher National Certificates (HNC) and Higher National Diplomas (HND). Applicants to such courses may be eligible for LEAPS support. (link to LEAPS page on UCAS tab)
We can help you narrow down options, support you to write a personal statement and offer guidance as required.
