Our Homework Standard

What kind of homework can you expect in Languages?

English, Drama and Languages faculty - Homework Standard

English: BGE

We use the Commonlit online platform to allocate fortnightly homework across the BGE. Pupils set up a log in and password to this in class which they should note down for future use. If they have any issues accessing this their class teacher should be able to reset their details.

Commonlit provides reading passages with questions that help both comprehension skills and build reading ability. These questions are primarily multi choice. The platform also allows for the passage to be read to pupils should they prefer this.

English: Senior Phase

Senior classes will be issued with homework each week - this will comprise a variety of different tasks that support in class learning. This may be a structured revision activity, a pre learning task or questions/essay work. At certain times in the year the folio redrafting will take priority for homework in English.

Modern Languages: BGE

Much of the BGE homework for pupils is centred around learning vocabulary in order to reinforce the in class teaching. Pupils have access to resources on Teams to enable them to do this effectively.

There are termly homeworks across S1 and S2 - these are largely thematic based on units covered in class. We put on a super display each year in the Autumn showcasing some of the fabulous work that pupils have undertaken at home.
