We are delighted that all our S4 pupils will be participating in a 1 day Level 6 'Emergency First Aid at Work' course. First Aid trained external staff will be delivering this from Monday 7th October and if involved, pupils will be allocated a day slot. This day training will take place in the Assembly hall. Lists will be placed up in the school reception soon. If your child is not involved next week there are further planned sessions later in the year.

The Award in 'Emergency First Aid at Work' at SCQF level 6 will develop knowledge and skills required to deal with a range of first aid situations. Pupils will specifically learn about: the roles and responsibilities of the first-aider; assessing an incident; providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty; providing first aid to someone who is choking; providing first aid to someone with external bleeding; providing first aid to someone in shock; and providing first aid for minor injuries. More detail on this course can be accessed here: https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/46198.html

We believe this is not only an important life skill our pupils should possess but also widens their qualification portfolio which will be of advantage as they consider not only positive destinations when leaving school but also when/if applying for part time work during their time at school.

Information with regards what day pupils will be involved in this training will be posted in the main reception soon.

This is now the 4th year we have offered this opportunity meaning all pupils at Linlithgow Academy will access this training/qualification going forward.
