Covering the costs of university

The cost of gaining a degree or diploma depends on your own circumstances, your family's income and the type of course you choose. To be eligible to apply for support you must have been ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for three years immediately before you start your course. As soon as you know what course you have been accepted for, you should apply online to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). You do not need to wait until you get your exam results. If you have a part time job while studying, this will not affect the level of support you are entitled to. You need to have a bank account so money can be paid into it.

Applications for funding must be made before the end of June and a separate application has to be made for every year you are in higher education - https://www.saas.gov.uk/
