We are delighted that all our S5 pupils and some S4 and S6 pupils will be participating in a 1 day Level 6 'Emergency First Aid at Work' course. First Aid trained external staff will be delivering this from Monday 5th September and if involved, pupils will be allocated a day slot. This day training will take place in the Assembly hall. Lists will be placed up in the school reception next week.

The Award in 'Emergency First Aid at Work' at SCQF level 6 will develop knowledge and skills required to deal with a range of first aid situations. Pupils will specifically learn about: the roles and responsibilities of the first-aider; assessing an incident; providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty; providing first aid to someone who is choking; providing first aid to someone with external bleeding; providing first aid to someone in shock; and providing first aid for minor injuries. More detail on this course can be accessed here: https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/46198.html

We believe this is not only an important life skill our pupils should possess but also widens their qualification portfolio which will be of advantage as they consider not only positive destinations when leaving school but also when/if applying for part time work during their time at school.

Information with regards what day pupils will be involved in this training will be sent via groupcall to parent/carer and sheets with this information will be posted in the main reception next week.

This is now the 2nd year we have offered this opportunity meaning all pupils at Linlithgow Academy will access this training/qualification going forward.
