Our Vision and Values
The Pupil Support Faculty at Linlithgow Academy promotes inclusion, wellbeing and success for all learners. Through our PSE curriculum, wellbeing initiatives and targeted support, we help every young person feel valued, confident and capable, ensuring that care and opportunity are at the heart of their learning experience.
Welcome to the Pupil Support Faculty
The Pupil Support Faculty at Linlithgow Academy is dedicated to ensuring that every young person feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed. Our team works collaboratively to nurture wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships, creating a safe, caring environment where all learners can thrive both personally and academically.
We believe that wellbeing is the foundation of learning, and we are committed to supporting every learner's journey through care, guidance and opportunity.
Supporting Learning and Wellbeing
Our faculty plays a central role in promoting Health and Wellbeing, Equality and Diversity, and Additional Support for Learning (ASL) across the school. We deliver a comprehensive Personal and Social Education (PSE) curriculum from S1 to S6 that equips learners with essential life skills, emotional literacy and a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
Recent developments include:
- Strengthening links between CORE learning, PSE and the UNCRC
- Expanding opportunities for learner voice through PSE focus groups
- Developing new accredited courses such as the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award (Level 5) and Customer Service Awards (Levels 5 & 6)
- Enhancing data tracking and support through improved CARE form systems and targeted interventions
These initiatives ensure that every learner receives consistent, high-quality support and opportunities to achieve success.
Inclusion, Relationships and Care
Our faculty is built on the principles of respect, equity and inclusion. We work closely with staff, families and external partners to ensure all learners' needs are met, guided by the school's Positive Relationships Policy and wellbeing strategies. From wellbeing baskets and self-referral systems to our active HWB Champions and Pupil Parliament Committees, we create meaningful opportunities for learners to lead, contribute and feel heard.
Our ASL team supports pupils across all subject areas, embedding the five roles of the Support for Learning teacher and ensuring our approaches are consistent and inclusive across the school.
Empowering Learner Voice
Pupil voice lies at the heart of our improvement work.Through focus groups, surveys and PSE evaluations, we regularly gather learner feedback to shape lessons, policies and wellbeing initiatives.
We believe young people should play an active role in developing a school community that reflects their values, one that listens, adapts and grows together.
Collaboration and Professional Growth
The Pupil Support Faculty leads by example in modelling professional collaboration and continuous improvement. Our staff actively participate in CLPL, TLC groups and wellbeing networks to share good practice and strengthen approaches to inclusion and care.
By connecting with local schools and external partners, we extend our reach and impact, building a consistent approach to wellbeing and support across our community.
Commitment to Excellence
Our vision is to create a school where every learner feels safe, included and inspired to achieve their best.
Through compassion, collaboration and reflection, we strive to remove barriers to learning and ensure every young person can flourish.
We are proud to play a vital role in developing confident, resilient and caring citizens who contribute positively to the Linlithgow Academy community and beyond.
