Faculty Improvement Plan 2025.2026
Our CORE approaches enable high quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
- All faculty staff to familiarise and use CORE teaching portal to support, develop and enhance our curriculum making and pedagogical improvement.
 - All staff continue to use the exemplification of CORE elements shared to support application of CORE during curriculum making and pedagogical improvement.
 - Ensure a consistent approach by all staff to work in line with the 'cover consistencies' policy to ensure continuity in our provision of learning and teaching of cover class within the faculty.
 - All staff to consistently integrate use of pupil data (including pupil passports and data file) into lessons and use this to inform the process of lesson planning to meet the needs of all students.
 - Faculty focus on 'O' to ensure we are opening up learning across out BGE curriculum through by modelling and explaining ideas and providing appropriate scaffolds that enable all students to engage in learning that is both meaningful and progressively challenging.
 - All staff engage in professional learning (INSET, Networks, FMs) to help reflect critically on their professional practice and improve Learning & Teaching.
 - All staff to engage in 2 rounds of peer observations to support professional learning & reflection in line with the CORE learning rounds model.
 - Faculty and departmental meetings are dedicated to curriculum making and professional learning as part of school calendar.
 - Improve leadership of curriculum development at all levels through professional learning that encourages collaboration among teachers.
 
Teachers demonstrate increased confidence in applying strategies to promote inclusion, wellbeing and equity to meet learners' needs.
- Department / Faculty 'positive recognition' systems introduced to acknowledge and celebrate pupil success
 - All staff embed and enact new positive behaviour policy and classroom culture.
 Development of meaningful business partnerships across the faculty to support employability and contextualise learning (DYW links)
Our shared understanding of progression enables our young people to achieve in their learning.
- Update BGE learner pathways displayed across the faculty and apart of classroom discussions. Links made with assessment & Homework
 All Staff embedding homework standard policy across all BGE and Senior Phase courses to reinforce and enhance learning experience
Continue to embed UNCRC into the curriculum in ways that encourage meaningful engagement with rights-based themes and issues, facilitate student participation and promote learning about, from and through rights.
All BGE courses / big ideas to have a clear, shared assessment / criteria to monitor pupil progress.
Relaunch Technologies Pupil parliament to focus on enhancing student voice across the faculty.
Enhance learner conversations at BGE level to support learners with developing their knowledge and skills across the faculty.
Revisit the purpose of plenaries to emphasise evaluation of progress and develop students' capacity to reflect on their learning
Use data from Power Bi / insight / cfe machine to shape planning of department timelines and pedagogical strategies at senior phase level
Develop a faculty M&T system that enables appropriate challenge across the BGE for all learners. All assessment grading links to whole school T & M system (Shades of green)
Moderation folders created within each department across the faculty to support staff understanding of BGE assessments and confidence in consistent judgements linked to shades of green.
Summative BGE Pupil Feedback is given related to progress and shades of green.
