Faculty Improvement Plan 2025.2026
Our CORE approaches enable high quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
Embed the use of our CORE teaching portal at all sites of practice linked to curriculum making and pedagogical improvement.
Consistently integrate use of pupil data (including pupil passports and data file) into lessons and use this to inform the process of lesson planning to meet the needs of all students.
Create cover lesson materials to be used when planned cover is unavailable
Applying select thinking routines throughout units of work to cultivate curiosity, crave the critical critique and promote independent learning.
Implementing the mnemonics across BGE and Senior Phase to imbed knowledge and understanding; bridging the gap between the levels and support individual confidence.
Continue to provide performance and showcase opportunities for young people to work towards to highlight their hard work and celebrate their talents.
Create S2 'Protest' unit for English - exemplifying key CORE concepts
Create S1 School unit for French - exemplifying key CORE concepts
Further develop curriculum for curiosity in response to CIC and Ed Scotland priorities
Implement pairs/trios within faculty to facilitate learning rounds and peer observations
Develop faculty involvement in TLC
Teachers demonstrate increased confidence in applying strategies to promote inclusion, wellbeing and equity to meet learners' needs.
Utilise visible interactive displays of routines and resources consistently to cater for differentiation.
Offer extra curricular opportunities to support the wellbeing and growing confidence in young people in a fun, safe and nurturing environment.
Continue to develop knowledge and understanding of production areas in Drama to support growing demand out with acting. *Working alongside National Theatre/ outside agencies to provide learners with enhanced opportunities with industry professionals to encourage curiosity.
Implement positive relationships strategy across faculty
Reestablish faculty pupil parliament team
Work with the Drama, Reading and Languages Ambassadors to achieve their L7 award
Our shared understanding of progression enables our young people to achieve in their learning.
Update and refresh our curriculum rationale and plans (BGE) to include reference to:
Big ideas and big questions used to organise content.
Meaningful homework that reinforces learning.
Assessment approaches and arrangements for moderation.
Continue to embed UNCRC into the curriculum in ways that encourage meaningful engagement with rights-based themes and issues, facilitate student participation and promote learning about, from and through rights.
- Focus on English N5 Improvement - pass rate whilst maintaining cohort presentation within tolerance
- Work with primary colleagues to develop a meaningful literacy transition programme
- Support the role of pupil parliament in leading improvement at faculty and departmental levels.
- Utilise student focus groups to evaluate learning across faculty
- Start to track pupil skills development across English, Languages and Drama using Didbook
