Positive Relationships at Linlithgow Academy
We want to support the creation of a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that nurtures positive relationships among staff, students, and the broader school community. It reflects Linlithgow Academy's vision, values, and dedication as a Rights Respecting School.
Our relational principles and logical classroom consequences serve as the foundation for ongoing professional development, learner assemblies and classroom discussions. Our aim is to promote the right to learn by encouraging responsible behaviour. |
Our 5 Relational principles allow us to promote the right to learn by encouraging responsible behaviour. As teachers, we play a vital role in fostering positive relationships, accountability, and restorative practices in alignment with the UNCRC's Aims of Education (Article 29). We must build trusting and respectful relationships with our students, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported. By promoting a growth mindset, we help students see mistakes as opportunities for learning and resilience. We implement fair and logical consequences, encouraging responsibility and reflection. We need to model positive behaviour and actively recognise students' efforts, reinforcing a culture of respect and kindness. Using restorative approaches, we can resolve conflicts by focusing on repairing relationships rather than punishment. Our classrooms should be inclusive and rights-respecting, where student voice is encouraged, diversity is embraced, and all children understand their rights and responsibilities. We must prioritise student well-being, ensuring emotional and social needs are met while collaborating with parents and colleagues for holistic support. By integrating these relational principles, we create an empowering, respectful, and supportive learning environment, fostering our students' academic, personal, and social growth, in line with the UNCRC's vision for education and child development. |
