Art and Design Courses

University may not always be the first step.

University may not always be the first step.

It is very difficult to get into an art and design degree course directly from school. It may be advisable to look into relevant college courses as your first step to studying in this area.

Degree art and design courses may use either of two application deadlines: January or March. The later deadline is to allow students who are required to present a portfolio of their work at their interview and time to put it together. UCAS Apply will indicate whether a portfolio and/or interview are required as part of your application. All art and design courses will recruit through the main UCAS scheme, allowing applicants five choices with no order of preference.

In general, you must also show a commitment to and a talent for art and design out with your school career. For example, you may attend evening classes or attend courses which may be available in local colleges during holiday periods.
