The Linlithgow Ladies Choir is a choir of local ladies who enjoy singing together and giving performances in St Michael's Church in Linlithgow. The Choir has recently decided to award a small music bursary of £200 in memory of two of our past members. This is to help a local young person further their music education. We would like to invite applications for the bursary during this month.

More details and how to apply are below.

Purpose

This bursary was founded in memory of Hazel Briton and Sandra Jackson-Bass, former members of Linlithgow Ladies Choir. We make one award per year of £200 (subject to choir funds), which may be used toward any costs connected to the recipient working towards their musical goals (for example, this might include purchase of an instrument or sheet music, tuition fees, travel costs or expenses to take part in development opportunities, or anything else the applicant feels would be useful to their development).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants should be aged 18 or under, and have demonstrated dedication and motivation toward their musical study. We are open to receiving applications from people of any gender, studying any musical discipline, and to those studying music through formal or informal education. Applicants must reside within the vicinity of Linlithgow and surrounding areas.
In awarding the bursary, we will aim to make a difference in enabling the recipient to achieve their musical goals. We will take into consideration the difference the award will make to the successful candidate, including how this relatively small amount of money will enable the recipient to pursue an opportunity that would otherwise be out of reach (for financial or other reasons).

Application process

We assess applications once each year. We ask that applications are submitted during the month of October, and we will carry out assessment during November / early December. Decisions will be communicated to all applicants before Christmas. We ask successful bursary recipients to send us a short letter within six months of the award to let us know how they have used the money, and the difference it has made. We sometimes publicise bursary awards and lists of recipients, but will talk with successful applicants to agree to any communications in advance.

Confidentially

All information provided by applicants will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for the purpose of assessing bursary applications.
Review and Amendments
This bursary policy will be reviewed periodically by the choir committee to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Amendments to the policy may be made as necessary, with approval from the choir committee.
