BGE S1-S3

In S1-S3, as part of their Broad General Education pupils will participate in a wide range of physical activities to improve their physical movement skills. They will also learn about how a range of other factors, such as co-operating, communicating, mental and emotional factors impact their overall health and wellbeing.

S3 Electives

In Sports development course, pupils will be given the opportunity for students to not only develop their practical skills but also their social and leadership skills within a range of activities. Students will increase their knowledge and understanding of coaching, gain experience of assisting and leading festivals, planning and organising sporting events and as well as considering how fitness can enhance performance and how development can be made.

In the Creative and Aesthetic course, pupils will be given the opportunity to develop skills and abilities in a variety of activities with a creative and aesthetic theme with an emphasis on performance. Students will develop an understanding of choreography and design and will work individually with others to create their own routines.

The course will include the following activities:

-Dance, Gymnastics, Trampolining, Fitness, Netball

S4 Core PE

In S4, Core PE pupils will be given the opportunity to further enhance their physical movement skills in a variety of activities. This ensures that pupils are exploring and improving their own health and wellbeing as well as planning and preparing for the world of work.

National 4, 5 or Higher PE

If pupils choose PE as a certificated subject at either National 4/5 or Higher level they will explore and develop their performance in more detail. During this course pupils will evaluate their performance, identify areas for improvement and create development programmes to improve their performance.
