RMPS
A place and time to ask deeper questions
RMPS enables young people to explore the world's major religions and views which are independent of religious belief and to consider the challenges posed by these beliefs and values. |
It supports them in developing and reflecting upon their values and their capacity for moral judgement. Through developing awareness and appreciation of the value of each individual in a diverse society, religious and moral education develops responsible attitudes to other people. This awareness and appreciation will assist in counteracting prejudice and intolerance as young people consider issues such as discrimination more broadly.
Throughout the BGE pupils have 1 period of RMPS a week. During this time we cover a range of topics, from Christianity to Capital Punishment. Our aim is to make the subject engaging, relevant to pupils' lives and to give students the ability to gain a balanced perspective on their place in the world.
At National 4/5 you will study:
- Judaism
- The Existence of God
- Morality and Conflict
At Higher you will study:
- Buddhism
- Origins (of the Universe and Life)
- Morality and Justice
Both National 5 and Higher courses have a personal assignment that goes towards 20%(N5) and 33%(H) of the final grade.
